Fractal BAROQUE COLUMN I

Continuing on with the architectural column motif, I tried experimenting with more evidently organic shapes with an emphasis on encasement and constriction. In this first example, I kept it fairly simple in those terms, focusing more on producing cleaner, yet layered shapes.

Taking inspiration from the form language which has become associated with generatively designed mechanical parts, where the form is optimized to add evident support and density to the parts of the structure under the most load, I've opted to keep the mid parts clean and hollow.

The subsequent columns of this series are messier in their overall design; more overgrown and distressed by layers of seemingly frivolous form.
